MY EXPERIENCE:
I am Stephanie Hellebuyck, a seasoned nonprofit professional with over 15 years of extensive expertise in event management, fundraising, client services coordination, CRM database management, website content management, and grant applications. My proven track record of success in fast-paced environments reflects my exceptional organizational and communication skills, which have been pivotal in achieving goals. I am on a mission to leverage my expertise and passion to make a positive impact within the dynamic realm of nonprofit organizations.
My journey in the nonprofit world began after earning my bachelor’s degree in Communications from Michigan State University. It all started with a transformative internship at a Metro-Detroit hospital, which ignited my passion for philanthropy. In 2008, I embraced my first role as an Events Coordinator at a world-renowned cancer hospital, where I quickly rose to the position of Events Manager. There, I oversaw the management of three signature events, collectively raising over $2.5 million annually for the hospital. This experience was my initiation into the intricate world of fundraising, where I honed my skills and discovered my true calling.
In 2012, I embarked on a community-focused journey with the Rochester Downtown Development Authority. With a small team of three, I assumed the responsibility of managing our entire events schedule, which relied heavily on grants, sponsorships, and local business engagement. This role exposed me to the power of supporting local businesses and the pivotal role our office played in the downtown area's success. Fundraising, volunteer recruitment, media relations, social media communications, and web development became my second nature. Working for Rochester instilled in me the belief that with community support, anything is achievable.
Life demands led me to transition to part-time work with Shades of Pink Foundation in 2017, a local nonprofit dedicated to aiding women undergoing breast cancer treatment. As the Foundation Manager, I meticulously managed the Donor Database, revamped the organization's website using Squarespace, and streamlined event registration processes and social media strategies. I also became well-versed in grant writing, spearheading financial documentation and post-grant reporting. In 2019, I took on the role of Client Services Coordinator, witnessing firsthand the life-changing impact of our support for women in need.
In late 2022, my tenure at Shades of Pink concluded, but it marked the realization of a niche I am passionately committed to—freelance work for small nonprofits. As organizations like Shades of Pink grew, so did their need for additional full-time employees. I was there to bridge the gap and recognize my calling in this space. I am eager to bring my vast experience and knowledge to help your nonprofit flourish and further its mission.
Beyond my professional pursuits, I reside in Oxford, MI, with my loving husband, three amazing boys, and a faithful golden retriever. When I'm not passionately supporting small nonprofits, you can find me juggling the ongoing sports schedule, camping with my family, enjoying leisurely reading, or staying active with invigorating workouts at Orange Theory.
